A 21-year-old Clark Atlanta University student who was reported missing a week ago was found dead Friday in a Georgia park.

Alexis Crawford was reported missing on Nov. 1 and her body was discovered in at a park in DeKalb County, Georgia on Friday, Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields said in a news conference. The location is about 10 miles east of the Clark Atlanta University campus.

Police are working to secure arrest warrants for two suspects, one of whom lead investigators to the scene where the body was discovered, Shields said.

“The case has come to one of the saddest conclusions possible, and has been absolutely heartbreaking,” Shields said, before thanking investigators.

Police identified the two 21-year-old suspects as Jordan Jones, who is female and 21-years-old, and Baron Brantley, who is Jones’ boyfriend. Crawford and Jones had formerly been friends and roommates, Shields said.

No motive has been disclosed by authorities, but days before she went missing, Crawford filed a police report describing “unwanted kissing and touching” by Brantley.

“To Alexis’ family, our hearts go out to you. I am so truly sorry that we could not provide you with a better ending,” Shields said

President of Clark Atlanta University George T. French issued a statement Friday expressing condolences.

“Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with her family and with everyone who knew and loved Alexis,” a letter signed by French reads.

French said the tragedy was “isolated, off-campus incident” which posed no threat to other students.
