Arsenal manager Unai Emery has confirmed the return of Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac to training after the pair were caught in the middle of a gang ordeal.
And the Gunners boss insists both players are ‘100% ready’ to return to action ahead of the club’s Premier League clash with Burnley on Saturday, which kicks off our GameDay live commentaries on talkSPORT.
The duo were left out of Emery’s squad which travelled to Newcastle for the first Premier League game of the season due to security concerns.
Both players were attacked by knife-wielding carjackers in north London last month, with video footage remarkably showing Kolasinac jumping out of the car and bravely chasing off the thugs.
However, it has got them caught up in the middle of a gang feud and two men were arrested last Thursday night after allegedly getting into an altercation with security staff patrolling Ozil’s north London residence.
The pair have been under 24-hour surveillance and are understandably troubled by the situation.
“They are 100% ready to play,” Emery insists. “Their mentality is 100% focused on us.
“They have their minds here. I want to help them with normality with us, with the focus on training and each match. Of course I am pleased they are back. First as a person, after as a player.
“They came back training with us on Tuesday. We had off but they came to train with us. Mesut was a bit sick so he didn’t train yesterday but he trained today.
“Each day gives us more information whether they will play Saturday. We will wait till tomorrow to decide if they play.
“When they are training and consistent every day, we can choose them and that is good for us.”
