Cosby wants his conviction erased. Three judges will consider it
Bill Cosby’s effort to erase his conviction for sexual assault goes before a Pennsylvania appellate panel Monday for a hearing expected to focus on whether the trial judge made prejudicial errors or properly allowed testimony about Cosby’s “decades-long pattern” of sexual misconduct. The hearing will be before a three-judge panel and it could be short. The judges will not issue a decision that day, and there is no telling when they will. If the decision goes against Cosby, then Cosby stays in his prison cell near Philadelphia and his lawyers can try to persuade the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to hear his appeal.
Andy Murray’s retirement? That’s out of mind for now
Three-time major champion Andy Murray, pain-free and moving better all the time, is back to playing singles at a Masters event. Murray is the first-day focus at the Western & Southern Open. A painful exit at the Australian Open left him thinking the end of his career was in sight. He had a second hip operation in January that implanted metal, eliminated the pain and totally changed his outlook. His against-the-odds comeback takes another step when he faces Richard Gasquet in the first round Monday afternoon.
New fast food is bustin’ out all over
If the same old fast-food offerings have taken away your appetite, Monday is your lucky day. First off, Popeye’s is adding a New Orleans-style chicken sandwich to its menu that will be available nationwide at more than 3,000 restaurants. Meanwhile, Wendy’s is bringing back its spicy chicken nuggets, a response to a personal plea on Twitter from Chance the Rapper that spurred fans to offer up 2 million likes and over 410,000 retweets. Not to be outdone, Chick-fil-A is rolling out mac & cheese, available as a side dish with lunch and dinner, as a Kid’s Meal and in catering orders. Bon appetit!
Some say truth is stranger than fiction and because of one hip-hop artist; there’s a “Chance” Wendy’s spicy chicken nuggets might make a come-back.
Oscar Mayer ice cream slated for New York
A day after French’s announced mustard ice cream, Oscar Mayer took it one step further and seems to answer the perpetual question of whether a hot dog is a sandwich. It’s now an Ice Dog Sandwich and comes with spicy mustard gelato all on a cookie bun. “Say hello to the Oscar Mayer Ice Dog Sandwich–flavored ice cream, made with our better hot dogs, sandwiched with spicy mustard,” the brand tweeted Thursday. Oscar Mayer said its new creation will be available in New York City this week, but if you’re not in the area and send the company a direct message on Twitter you may be able to try it through a limited giveaway.
