Paul Pogba’s seven-word response when asked about his Man Utd future

Paul Pogba refused to discuss his Manchester United future after the Red Devils’ friendly win over Perth Glory, saying: “Who needs to talk? There’s no need.”

Pogba has been strongly linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer after he admitted he is looking for a “new challenge”.

His agent Mino Raiola recently spoke out about Pogba on talkSPORT radio, saying: “The player has done nothing wrong. He’s been professional and respectful.

“The club has known his feelings for a long time. Hopefully there will be soon be a satisfying solution for all parties.”

Manchester United responded by increasing Pogba’s price tag from £150million to £180million, seemingly pricing him out of a transfer to either Real Madrid or Juventus.

It is therefore not surprising that Pogba was in little mood to discuss his future on Saturday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to keep Pogba at United, and even suggested the Frenchman could be handed the captain’s armband following Antonio Valencia’s exit.

“Yep [Pogba could be United’s next captain]. We’ve got quite a few possibilities there and when the season starts we’ll announce it,” said the United boss.

“Of course, we’ll have a good assessment, see how pre-season goes. But, as you saw, Ashley Young will wear it when he’s playing until we decide on someone, yeah.”

When asked why he sees the World Cup winner as potential captain material, he added: “Well, I don’t think that needs explaining. We’ll discuss that later on.”
