Tommy Robinson has been jailed for nine months for contempt of court at the Old Bailey after broadcasting outside a child grooming trial.
The EDL founder was handed his sentence amid ugly scenes outside court with video showing police officers being pushed by supporters and a flare let off.
Hundreds of supporters – and activists opposing the far-right extremist – gathered outside the Old Bailey ahead of today’s hearing.
Robinson, 36, who was wearing a ‘convicted of journalism’ t-shirt – stopped to take selfies with fans ahead of the hearing.
The extremist, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, filmed defendants in a trial and broadcast it on Facebook in May last year.
He could have faced up to two years in jail.
