A Virgin passenger appears to slap a woman during a row that broke out in a packed carriage.

Stunned onlookers called the British Transport Police after witnessing the ugly scenes, caught on camera by another passenger.

The suspect can be heard calling other people on board “ableists” and “b***s”

The disagreement  is believed to have started over train customers standing in an area designated for wheelchairs on the packed service.

The woman with the disabled passenger is accused of slapping another passenger

In the footage, the woman travelling with the disabled passenger can be heard saying: “Look at all of them. Look at all of them. Ableists and b**s.”

The alleged victim can be seen talking to her, but the suspect then lunges towards her and loud whack can be heard as she tries to put her arm up to defend herself.

One shocked witness says: “Whoa, whoa.”

A third woman adds: “Don’t touch people.”

The row aboard the Virgin train escalates as multiple passengers get involved

One man chips in: “Right, the police are being called.”

Another says: “Someone call British Transport Police.

“The police will be waiting at the next station.”

Another chides the suspect: “Just sit down and have a cup of tea or something.”

But the third female passenger then gets more involved, saying: “No one is being abused. You need to calm down.”

“Your friend wasn’t trying to access that spot at that time.”

She then adds: “Shut your f***ing mouth.

Police were called as the argument grew increasingly heated

“You touch anyone else and I swear to God I’ll lose it.”

“You are touching innocent people, you’ve upset that poor girl.”

She then starts talking to the wheelchair-bound man and says: “Get off me.”

He replies: “I’m trying to turn around.”

To which she responds: “You are rolling your wheelchair over my feet.”

Another passenger replies: “Can we all just calm down a bit.”

The third woman then tells the suspect: “You are a disgrace, you are a disgrace.

“I don’t lose it very easily, but you’ve made me lose it.”

The man in the wheelchair then says: “I am a human being, you know.”

He then adds: “patronising.”

The couple standing in the door appeared to have attracted the ire of a woman and a man in a wheelchair

Another customer can be heard on his mobile reporting an “assault” to police.

All the passengers are then forced to sit or stand in awkward silence.

It happened on the 6.10pm Virgin Train service from Birmingham New Street to London Euston station on Sunday.

The suspect got off at about 7pm at Milton Keynes, Bucks.
